Chamonix

The Chamonix Valley is one of the most distinctive ski destinations in the French Alps. Unlike many purpose-built resorts designed solely for ski holidays, Chamonix has always been a vibrant, traditional town in its own right. Today, it still thrives as a lively year round community, offering everything from catered ski chalets and luxury apartments to renowned hotels. Known as the birthplace of mountaineering and alpine adventure in Europe, Chamonix holds a truly iconic status.

Most of Chamonix’s restaurants, bars, and its resort casino are located in the vibrant town centre, providing a lively après ski atmosphere, and the 11km Mont Blanc Tunnel has made the resort even more accessible, connecting France and Italy with ease and making it a popular choice for weekend getaways as well as longer stays.

Renowned for its legendary terrain, Chamonix is a destination that attracts thrill seekers and experienced skiers from around the world. Its slopes are famous for being both challenging and exhilarating, offering some of the most iconic runs in Europe.

For off piste enthusiasts, Chamonix is a must. Particularly the areas of Argentiere, Les Grandes Montets and the famed Vallee Blanche. The Vallee Blanche boasts the world’s longest lift served vertical descent, an impressive 2,807 metres. Spanning 22 km, this renowned backcountry route takes skiers through dramatic high altitude terrain and across glaciers. For safety and the best experience, we highly recommend skiing the Vallee Blanche with a professional mountain guide.

Away from the pistes, adventure continues with opportunities for mountain climbing, paragliding, and other high-adrenaline pursuits around Mont Blanc.

The après ski in Chamonix starts just after the slopes close with the Chambre Neuf bar being a popular spot. However, you are not short for bars in Chamonix. From the relaxed Elevation 1904 with an extensive cocktail beer selection, to the infamous Folie Douce, located by Le Brevent for a lively party and all important table dancing.
