The resort is sometimes referred to simply as Selva, Selva Gardena, or by its historic German name Wolkenstein, reflecting the region’s fascinating cultural heritage.

As the highest of the three villages in Val Gardena, Selva enjoys a prime position within the ski area and offers direct access to both the legendary Sella Ronda circuit and the vast Dolomiti Superski network. This immense ski domain spans around 1,200 kilometres of pistes, making it the largest by total area in Europe. Impressively, roughly 500 kilometres of these slopes can be explored without ever needing to step on a bus.

Selva itself blends Italian flair with traditional Tyrolean character, a legacy of the region’s time under Austrian rule. The result is a welcoming mountain village that feels both authentic and family friendly, while still offering all the comforts expected of a luxury ski destination.
